FAQs

Is the shampoo powder a dry shampoo?

No - this is a dehydrated, concentrated shampoo powder that is hydrated at the point of use, at which point use as a traditional shampoo. It's made with powders not liquids.

How much shampoo powder do I use?

It depends how much hair you've got and preference - I typically use a little more than a 50p coin size. If you have long, thick hair you'll need more - as you would with a traditional shampoo.

Which cap is best to use - Twist or sifter?

It's your personal preference, the twist off cap will allow more to come out at once. The sifter cap stems the flow - I find this a good option for children or if you need a little more control when tipping out.

Is the sifter cap secure?

Yes, it's secure - however if you're transporting it on a more often basis you may want the additional security of the twist cap. The sifter cap has a twist on sifter cap with a pull off and on cover which does not twist closed. They're interchangeable so they can be swapped as desired.

How much shower powder do I use?

It depends on body area you're washing - if it's a face I use approximately 20p coin size, if it's your body, again it depends on the size of your body and preference - I use approximately 50p coin size.

Are the ingredients Organic?

Wherever I can source organic ingredients they're organic, each item description states if it's organic, cold pressed and unrefined if possible.

My powder doesn't tip out as easily - what's wrong?

Sometimes the powder can settle left stood, simply give the bottle a shake or tap (with the cap firmly on) to loosen up the powder periodically.

My sifter cap has a build up of powder - what can I do?

This can happen if the cover for the sifter cap has been left off and steam/water has lead to powder sticking to it, simply remove by twisting off and wipe clean, ensure it's thoroughly dried and twist it back on.

Can I use these products if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?

I'm not a medical professional and guidance may differ person to person - if you're unsure whether you can use any product due to any medical condition please ensure you speak to your medical professional as they have access to your medical record and can give the best advice for you.

Can my children use these products?

My products have been safety assessed for the general population – this means over 36 months. However as stated these are not tear free formulations and every child is different, if you know your child is safe to use it, then yes.

Do you do refills rather than recycling the aluminium bottles?

At this moment no, the reason for this is the different formulations are made with varying blends essential oils or parfum, each has the relevant allergen information on the label and I would hate for somebody to refill the bottle and not realise there may be a different allergen in the formulation and have a reaction. Aluminium is very easily recycled, simply peel the labels off and pop into the appropriate recycling bin. Unfortunately I cannot say for every area whether their council will recycle the labels.

Why does the conditioner have a gentle preservative in it?

Because all water, whether it be tap, demineralised or distilled still have tiny microbes that could spoil over time, I carefully chose this one as it offers a broad range of protection, but it is gentle on our bodies and at up to 1% of the formulation for the conditioner. I recommend using the products within 12 months of receiving for best results.

How should I store my products?

They’re best stored in a cool place out of direct sunlight as temperature fluctuations can degrade natural products over time.

Can I use your products with a sponge, flannel, face cloth, hair massager?

Yes, you can, however as always please ensure you rinse thoroughly and allow your item to dry thoroughly, even better if you're using a face cloth/flannel ensure you have a weekly supply and use a clean, fresh one each day

How often should I wash my hair?

This is a personal preference, although less is better - washing hair everyday can stress it and wash away natural oils which can stimulate your scalp to produce more, in turn leading to a "greasy" scalp at a quicker interval. I used to be an every day without fail hair washer, since I've started using these products I don't need to, my hair seems to feel cleaner for longer.

Can  I use your shampoo if I've got coloured hair?

Yes, although again as above if you've just had your hair coloured you're best to let it "bake in" for a few days so it's not stripped out right away, and then again following the advice above not often as this will prolong the colour that you've had done.

Can I use these products on curly hair?

Yes, they're hydrating, moisturising and silicone free so they're great for curly hair as your hair will be nourished without a build up of silicone making it brittle after a while.

I've had a reaction - what should I do?

Everybody's skin is different - please ensure you've checked the ingredients on each product - all allergens as per ingredients are listed on the website and individual product. As everybody’s skin is different and goes through changes please ensure you perform a small patch test on your skin prior to use if you’re new to any of these products, if you’re unsure whether you have a history of an allergy or sensitive skin please seek medical advice and discontinue use. All my ingredients are sourced from reputable sources and all products have been safety assessed, and I’m fully compliant to these rules and regulations.

Free from?

I don’t use anything with wheat or gluten in, however as a general rule suppliers often apply the caveat that their factory also produces wheat, gluten, soy, dairy, nuts, seeds, cereals etc. If you’re unsure please ask and I will provide you with any information you require. I do use ingredients from nuts such as Argan Kernel Oil, Batana Oil. I use Vegetable glycerine, which is derived from Rape Seed. I also Maltodextrin which is derived from corn starch in the shower powder.

Why don’t I just buy cheaper products or pure essential oils from internet?

Buyer beware! It can seem like a good idea and tempting to do so, however please, please be careful. Essential oils may be thought of as completely safe, however they all differ and can only be used in specific concentrations and can do more harm than good if not used in accordance with IFRA guidelines. Unscrupulous sellers may seem to have made a more potent/cheaper product – have they taken the time to ensure they’ve sourced quality ingredients? Have they used correct quantities of ingredients? Have they had their products safety assessed? Have they had them stability assessed? Are they insured? Are they following Good Makers Practice?

Are your products vegan friendly?

Yes, I’ve carefully chosen ingredients that are derived from plants.

Is your packaging recyclable?

Yes, the aluminium bottles are food grade, which has a special coating on them to ensure they’re safe, these are 100% recyclable. The plastic pump for the conditioner can be cleaned between uses and reused, so it’s not single use. If a plastic pump is not required (a refill) this bottle will come with and aluminium cap. The amber bottles are glass, as is the pipette – these are commonly recyclable at the curb side. However, the cap is plastic, unfortunately. Boxes are sourced from sustainable sources. The packing peanuts are biodegradable. Tape for the boxes are recyclable. Hampers are made using home compostable plastic and wood wool.

Are your products made in the UK?

I make everything, by hand in Yorkshire.

What is Ayurvedic?

Ayurveda is considered by many scholars to be the oldest healing science. In Sanskrit, Ayurveda means “The Science of Life.” Ayurvedic knowledge originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and is often called the “Mother of All Healing.” It stems from the ancient Vedic culture and was taught for many thousands of years in an oral tradition from accomplished masters to their disciples. Some of this knowledge was set to print a few thousand years ago, but much of it is inaccessible. The principles of many of the natural healing systems now familiar in the West have their roots in Ayurveda, including Homeopathy and Polarity Therapy.
